Step 1: Customer Consultation
Concrete pools are fully customizable, and we pride ourselves on bringing your vision to life. When you contact us, we’ll schedule a time that works for you to come to your home for a consultation. Details can get lost over the phone, so we think it’s important to discuss your plans in person. We’ll start by asking why you want a pool in the first place–what’s your vision? Are you creating a backyard oasis? Do you want a retreat for friends and family? We’ll also cover with you pool sizes and shapes, whether your yard can realistically meet your vision, and any further customization you’re looking for. We’ll take the time to answer all of your questions, and when we leave, you’ll have a quote for your pool.
Step 2: Permit
A building permit is required for installing any pool over 2 feet deep, and pools that use pumps, filters, heaters, lights, or any other electrical devices must also have an electrical permit. We handle this step for you, as well as analyzing the safety of digging on your property. We also order the materials required for your pool project. All you have to do is choose the color of your pool and the tile design and placement.
Step 3: Outline
Before we dig, we come back to your house to paint an outline of your pool in the space you’ve chosen in your yard. We then use stakes to help you visualize the pool and to show the contractor where to dig.
Step 4: Dig
We’re now ready to dig. Don’t worry if you’re expecting digging to be too invasive for your yard. We’ve worked with our digger for almost 20 years, and we do our very best to not disrupt the rest of your yard. The amount of dirt left over can be surprising for some customers, as they don’t know what to do with it. If you’d like, we’ll spread the dirt over your yard at no cost. We also have priced options for removal.
Step 5: Gravel
A gravel truck will coat the bottom of the hole to level it, shape it, and provide a bed for the concrete pool surface. We also use the gravel to install a main drain so your pool has proper drainage.
Step 6: Rebar
Next, we add rebar over the gravel and bend it to the shape of the pool. We use this as a guide when pouring concrete. At this step, we also determine installation points for features like bubblers, lights, heaters, etc.
Step 7: Concrete
Using a shotcrete approach, we do the concrete work on your pool. This involve spraying it, smoothing it, letting it sit, and then giving it adequate time to properly dry, which is usually about one week.
Step 8: Tilework
Now that the pool’s foundation is in place, we can add the tile. We’ll work with you to design a tile look you like, whether it’s simple or extravagant. You’ll have the option of tile designs on the pool wall, deck, floor, and steps. We’re here to answer your questions if you need assistance making decisions.
Step 9: Coping
Coping is the material used to cap the pool shell wall. There are a variety of options for materials and styles that can be used to frame your pool. Whether you want a simple look or something more artistic, we’ll work with you to achieve your desired design.
Step 10: Plumbing and Electrical
At this point, we’re ready to install your pool’s pump and filter and to complete the wiring of the control panel. We provide expert plumbing and electrical services to ensure that this important step is done correctly.
Step 11: Plaster
We use a colored plaster to coat the shell of your concrete pool. This adds a water-tight seal and provides a smooth surface for swimmers to walk on, as opposed to rough concrete. The plaster also makes the pool more visually appealing and durable.
For the final step, we fill the pool with water and set up the chemical treatment to keep your pool clean. Lastly, we clean up the site and make sure to leave your yard as we found it. We respect your property and want to leave you with a result you’ll be happy with for years to come.
